Since the release of Comica BooMax, we have received lots of questions about it. Today, we will answer the most frequently asked questions to help you start content creation with confidence.
Q1 : How long is the internal recording time?
A : The transmitter's internal recording time is 40 hours. During internal recording, files are saved every 60 minutes in WAV format.
Q2 : How to enable 32-bit float recording?
A : Enter the RX’s control menu - Transmitter Settings - REC Bit Depth, switch the on-board recording specification to 32-bit float recording.
Q3 : How to get the best sound volume?
A : The microphone has TX gain and RX gain settings, which can be adjusted separately to achieve the user's ideal sound effect.
Q4 : What track modes does BooMax have?
A : There are three track modes: mono, stereo, and safety track.
S: Stereo mode, the audio is recorded by two transmitters and stored on separate channels.
M: Mono mode, the two transmitters’ audio is combined and output in one channel.
Ms: Mono mode with the safety track function activated. Safety track mode reduces the volume by -6 dB to record a second channel as a backup.
Q5 : How to copy or delete the audio file?
A : Turn off the TX first and connect it to the computer via the USB audio output cable. Open the BooMax TX disk on the computer and enter the REC folder to copy or delete the audio.
If the internal recorded file cannot be displayed or copied, please download the TX firmware upgrade package from the COMICA official website to upgrade it.
Formatting Method:
1. Swipe down the screen or long-press the receiver dial to enter the menu - TX settings - Memory Format;
2. Select the mic that needs to be formatted, and select " Yes" in the pop-up notification. If the BooMax transmitter storage is full, the original file will be overwritten.
Q6 : How to connect with camera & what are the precautions?
Connection Method:
A standard 3.5mm TRS-TRS audio cable is needed. Connect one end to the camera audio input interface (mic) and the other end to the receiver's 3.5mm audio output port.
Precautions:
1. When the BooMax is outputting audio to a camera and connecting to a smartphone via Bluetooth at the same time, keep the smartphone far away from the receiver; otherwise, it may affect the audio transmitting effect of the wireless mic.
2. The audio playing function on the phone speaker is turned on by default. If you do not want it, turn it off in the general settings of the receiver’s menu.
3. The recording volume or recording level of the camera should be set as low as possible to prevent distortion and self-noise.
Q7 : How to connect with computer and iPhone?
Computer:
1. Connect the BooMax receiver to a computer via the standard USB cable.
2. Rotate the receiver dial to set the receiver output volume between 5~8dB.
3. Choose Comica BooMax as the receiver driver on the computer audio recording software.
iPhone:
1. For the version below iPhone 15, you can use the standard Type-C to Lightning cable to connect the phone and receiver.
2. For iPhone 15, iPhone 15 above, and Android phones, you can use the equipped Type-C cable to connect with the receiver.
Q8 : How to connect with Comica Audio APP?
Connection Method:
1. Search and download the ”Comica Audio” APP in your smartphone APP store
2. Turn on the Bluetooth function of your smartphone
3. Open the APP to search and pair the device: BooMax
Notice:
1. If the Bluetooth pairing fails, please update the APP to the latest version: 0.02.0020.
2. If the device needs to be connected to a new phone, please reset the device’s Bluetooth.
Reset Method:
Operate RX - Enter control menu - Tap Settings - Bluetooth - Off - Reset - Confirm - Turn Bluetooth on.
Q9 : How to update the firmware?
A : Download the BooMax firmware upgrade package to your computer from the Comica official website: https://www.comica-audio.com/d...
TX :
Turn the TX off and connect it to a computer via the USB audio cable. Copy the firmware upgrade package from the computer to the BooMax TX - UPDATE folder. Disconnect the USB audio cable and restart TX to upgrade automatically.
RX :
Enter the RX control menu, and tap “Settings - Upgrade - Confirm” to enter the upgrade mode. Connect the RX to a computer via the USB audio cable, and copy the firmware upgrade package from the computer to the BooMax RX - UPDATE folder. Disconnect the USB audio cable and restart RX to upgrade automatically.
Charging Case:
Connect the charging case to the computer via the USB interface. Copy the firmware upgrade package from your computer into the UPDATE folder. After disconnecting the USB cable, click the reset hole to automatically start the upgrade.
Q10 : Does BooMax support audio transmission to XLR port device?
A : BooMax does support it. But users need to prepare a 3.5mm-XLR unbalanced cable themselves.
