Thank you for choosing Comica VM30. To let you better know and use VM30, we specially prepared this detailed VM30 hands-on guide. This guide will cover the four aspects of packing list, component introduction, installation guide, connection & use, hoping to help you quickly get started with VM30.
01 Packing List
The list includes VM30 microphone (transmitter), VM30 receiver, 2-in-1 charging & output cable, 3.5mm TRS-TRS audio cable, 3.5mm TRRS-TRRS audio cable, shock mount, microphone clip, windscreen, wind muff, pin, carry case, and instruction bag.
02 Components Instruction
Microphone (Transmitter)
1. Mic Capsule: Please aim at the sound sources when using.
2. Low Cut Indicator: Corresponding indicator lights up blue when turned on.
3. High-frequency Boost Indicator: Blue light on when turned on.
4. Modes Switch Button: Short press to switch between 75/150Hz low-cut and high-frequency boost functions; Long press to turn on Safety Mode (Safety Mode is only available in wired mode).
5. Working Indicator: Green light on in wired mode; In wireless mode, blue light flashes when paring, and blue light on when paired.
6. RF Button: In wireless mode, long press to turn on/o microphone; in wired mode, long press to turn on/o wireless mode.
7. Gain Control Knob: Rotate to adjust microphone gain.
8. Pairing Hole: When the wireless connection is abnormal, use the pin to short-press the pairing hole to re-pair.
9. 3.5mm Output Port: Support TRS and TRRS output.
10. USB-C Charging/Output Port: Plug in the 2 in 1 charging&output cable to charge or output digital audio.
Screen Display
The screen displays wireless mode, audio mode, battery power, and audio dynamic.
In safe mode, the screen displays two dynamic bars of normal track and safe track. The safe track is 6dB lower than the normal track.
Receiver
Reset Hole: If there is an abnormal phenomenon such as the device is crash or unable to turn on it, then insert the reset pin into the reset hole to reset it.
Power/Mute Button: Long press to power on/off; Short press to turn on/off the mute function.
Gain Control/Screen Flip Button: Short press to adjust the gain; Long press to flip the screen.
Belt Clip
USB-C Charging Port: Charging with the 2 in 1 charging&output cable.
3.5mm Monitoring Port: Plug in 3.5mm TRS/TRRS headphones for monitoring.
3.5mm TRS Audio Output Port: Connect to camera/smartphone/computer via 3.5mm audio cable.
Screen Display
The screen displays the pairing state, mute, output gain, battery power, and audio dynamic.
03 Installation Guide
The accessories contain a shock mount with a 1/4 interface and a microphone clip with a 3/8 interface. The VM30 microphone can be mounted to a camera/rabbit cage, tripod, or C-stand via the shock mount.
You can also mount the VM30 microphone on the boom pole, boom stand, or microphone stand through the microphone clip.
The VM30 receiver clip is as wide as a standard cold shoe, allowing the receiver to be mounted on a camera/rabbit cage.
04 Connection & Use
Wired Mode
In wired mode, the microphone supports automatic switch on/off after connecting the device.
3.5mm Analog Output
3.5mm TRS-TRS audio cable can be used to connect cameras, switchers, mixers, and other equipments with 3.5mm TRS interface;
3.5mm TRRS-TRRS audio cable can be used to connect mobile phones, tablets, notebooks or some cameras with 3.5mm TRRS interface;
* If the mobile phone does not have a 3.5mm interface, you need to prepare a 3.5mm TRRS-USB C/Lightning adapter cable for connection. With an adapter, the microphone still supports automatic switch on/off function.
USB Digital Output
The 2-in-1 charging & output cable can be connected to Android phones, tablets, and computers with USB-C/USB-A interfaces;
* When using with Lightning interface devices, users need to prepare a USB-Lightning adapter cable/adapter that supports the OTG function.
In wired mode, it is recommended to adjust the internal gain of the device to a lower level and control the output volume by adjusting the VM30 microphone gain knob.
Wireless Mode
In wireless mode, turn on the receiver and long press the RF button of the transmitter to turn it on and enter the wireless mode, the transmitter and receiver will be automatically paired and connected;
The receiver can be connected to the camera/switcher/desktop computer through the 3.5mm TRS-TRS audio cable;
When connecting with a mobile phone/tablet/laptop, please prepare a 3.5mm TRS-TRRS audio cable separately;
*In wireless mode, it is recommended to adjust the gain of the VM30 transmitter to the maximum, and then adjust the output volume through the gain control of the receiver;
*The transmitter and receiver are paired by default at the factory. If the wireless connection is abnormal or the transmitter needs to be connected to the BoomX-D or BoomX-D PRO receiver, please turn on the receiver first, and then plug the pin into the pairing hole of the VM30 transmitter. After that, they are re-paired.
